It’s been a tough season for Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell. Wednesday night against the Cavs, it got tougher.
Russell was struck – right where no man wants to be struck – by a LeBron James bullet pass and crumpled to the floor in pain.
James appeared to be trying to rifle a bounce pass to Iman Shumpert in the corner. Unfortunately for Russell, it never got there.
We’ve all been there D’Angelo Russell. Hang in there, buddy.
We hope the statistician at least credited him with the steal.
Adding insult to what is hopefully not an injury, the Cavs beat the Lakers 120-111. In his final matchup against LeBron James in Cleveland, Kobe Bryant had 17 points on 5 of 16 shooting. Lou Williams led the Lakers with 28 points. Russell had 15 points and three assists.
James finished with 29 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds while Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving led all scorers with 35 points.
