For the second time in as many nights, Peyton Manning joined “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
But on Thursday, he looked a little different.
Kristen Wiig, master of impersonations and improvisation, dressed up as the recent Super Bowl 50 champion in complete football gear and answered Fallon’s questions.
Kristen Wiig dressed up as Peyton Manning and answered Jimmy Fallon’s questions about the Super Bowl.
The only problem was Wiig pretended to know next to nothing about the man she was parodying or, for that matter, the sport he plays. Fallon asked the faux Manning what he was thinking during Sunday’s game.
“I’m thinking I’m so far from the line,” she said, struggling to keep a straight face. “I’m far away from the line and I have to get it … I’ve got to get this ball to the guy.”
Wiig gave a good guess for the final score of the game, 14-6, which although wrong, wasn’t impossible. But Fallon really stumped her when he asked what college she attended.
“Uh, University of Florida,” she said.
Wiig struggled to keep a straight face when listing her character’s achievements.
When Fallon corrected her, Wiig was quick on her feet to make amends.
“I’m sorry, I thought you said where did I get into school,” she said. “I got into Florida, I got into South Carolina. I got into every college I applied to.”
In the process of listing colleges, she also gave her character an education makeover, revealing that he’d studied Environmental science in school. Pretty impressive, but the real Manning graduated with a degree in Speech Communications.
The real Peyton Manning visited the show on Wednesday and spoke to a cardboard cutout of his brother, Eli.
After a rapid fire round where Wiig belted out some of Manning’s favorite things — including the band Maroon 5, the color greenish and the yoga pose upward dog — the quarterback got to work throwing a golden football at a target.
Her toss wasn’t too far off from the pathetic rainbow Manning threw on Sunday that was easily picked off by Kony Ealy.
