Don’t expect the “Jim Harbaugh is discontent” rumors to subside any time soon.
Whether the awkward friction between Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers is real or a media perpetuation, it appears that rumors won’t be dying down any time soon. On Sunday, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Niners head coach won’t be returning to San Francisco next season, “even if” they win a Super Bowl.
Rumors that Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke were at odds flared late last season and into the offseason with rumors that the 49ers were trying to trade the coach to the Cleveland Browns. After a Week 3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, reports detailed tension between Harbaugh and his players. Then after a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4, Harbaugh was given public endorsements.
Whatever the truth, we’ll likely be hearing rumors about Harbaugh’s future throughout the season. In the mean time, the 49ers’ front office will do everything it can to quell any hint of discontent.
Jim is my coach. We are trying to win a SB, not a personality or popularity contest. Any more questions?
