Austin Tillotson made some senior night magic on Sunday.
The 6-foot guard sank a running half-court shot as time expired to give Colgate a 93-90 win over Loyola (Maryland) on the same night the Raiders saluted Tillotson and the other seniors on the squad.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Austin (Tillotson) and how he’s gone about his business over the last four years with us. If there is anyone more deserving to make a desperation shot like that to win the game, I don’t know who (is),” Colgate head coach Matt Langel told the school’s website.
Colgate senior Austin Tillotson is pumped after hitting a buzzer-beater from mid-court to lead the Raiders to a win on Senior Night.
Tillotson’s heave came just after it looked like things were heading for overtime upstate. Loyola guard Andre Walker had just made a 3-pointer with four seconds to go on the clock, tying the game at 90.
The Raiders didn’t call a timeout and Tillotson took the inbounds pass, dribbled once and hit nothing but net on the halfcourt heave.
The buzzer-beater was the icing on the cake of what was already a banner night for Tillotson, who scored a team-high 20 points and dished out eight assists to become the program’s single-season assists leader with 141.
